“THE OFFERED EXTENSIONS COURSES ARE AFFILIATED FROM THE SENATE OF SERAMPORE”

The lay people are the presence of the church in the world. They are called to commend their faith particularly in their secular professions or vocations in which they are involved and participate in the process of social change. These courses are an external study programs of the Senate. It is designed to provide laity from different walks of life and laity with academic skills for an in-depth understanding of Christian faith, history, doctrines and practical dimensions of ministry to interact with their neighbours and colleagues in their common quest for meaning in life.

Program Objectives:

  • To promote in South Asia theological education as a transforming influence in personal, ecclesial and societal life.
  • To provide tools to understand and interpret Bible in the South Asian context.
  • To study the interaction of Christianity with people of other faiths and cultures.
  • To integrate theological education with the professional orientation of the candidates.
  • To empower communities with basic Christian theological education.
  • To facilitate lay leadership in church and society in the study of Christianity, its history, faith and practices.
  • To promote theological education in regional languages as well as in English.
